Woodlands Original Farmstead - Taranaki accommodation

The Original Farmstead

The Original Homestead is the heart of Woodlands Farmstead, a 1900s colonial villa rich with history. Featuring four bedrooms, generous lounge and dining spaces, and high ceilings throughout, it retains its authentic character while introducing thoughtful modern comforts. The freshly renovated kitchen and bathrooms offer contemporary ease that sits harmoniously within the home’s timeless charm.

Days here flow between morning walks through the expansive gardens, relaxing on the veranda with a drink in hand, and enjoying the peaceful sounds of native birds.

Guests can fully immerse themselves in the history of the Newton family and the legacy of Flight Lieutenant Harold Newton, a decorated WWII pilot awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross by King George VI. He famously flew a monoplane from Belgium to New Zealand, a journey that captivated the nation. Harold’s pioneering spirit and deep connection to the land live on through the farm and the family who continue to care for it.
