Woodlands Farmstead

Escape to Woodlands Farmstead, where rural tranquillity meets New Zealand heritage. Just ten minutes from Urenui, this historic colonial villa offers guests the rare chance to step into a bygone era while enjoying the ease of thoughtful renovation.

Built in the 1920s, Woodlands was once the home of Flight Lieutenant Harold Newton, a decorated WWII pilot whose pioneering spirit and love for the land shaped the story of this farm.

Today, the homestead is carefully maintained to honour its history – high ceilings, wide verandah’s, and original furnishings sit harmoniously alongside a beautifully updated kitchen and bathrooms.

Set among sweeping gardens alive with native birdsong, Woodlands is a place to slow down and reconnect. Wander the grounds, sip a quiet drink on the verandah, or simply enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the countryside. Here, heritage and nature combine to create a retreat that feels both restorative and deeply rooted in Taranaki’s past.
